“6 Weeks 4 H2O”

LENTEN STEWARDSHIP PROJECT FOR 3RD QUARTER…

During this Lenten season, we will provide time for our students to spend in prayer: classes will go to pray the Stations of the Cross; Lenten Reconciliation for Grades 2-8 will take place in March; the whole school will spend Holy Thursday in “retreat” through activities, prayer, adoration, and a closing of the day with the Stations of the Cross.

Our third quarter service project, which begins Ash Wednesday, combines both fasting and almsgivingin a project we are calling “6 Weeks 4 H2O”. We are asking the children to give up drinking soda, iced tea, or drinks like GatorAide©, and drink water instead so that they can donate the monies spent to buy those drinks to Living Water International, a group that helps provide water wells to people who don’t have safe water to drink (see the pamphlet that is coming home with your child today, or access www.water.cc). We are so blessed to live in a country where we know we have access to all the safe water we need for life, health, and sanitation needs—something that nearly 900 million people in the world don’t have!

We hope to raise $3000, the amount needed to rehabilitate a well—and we already know that we have someone in our school family who is going to match that! The money we send to Living Water International will change the lives of 600 families, which is twice the number of families we have at our school. Our almsgiving and efforts can help to make a difference!
