SAOPCS has set up a Fine Arts memorial fund in Cathy Hurt's name to honor her love for art.
Mary Catherine Hurt, a former art teacher at SAOPCS, passed away on November 15, 2008, after a 6-year battle with cancer. Cathy made an impact in the students' lives through her love of teaching art. She was a firm believer that every child held creativity within their hands and, given the opportunity, could learn to express themselves in art. She was instrumental in designing the present facilities' art room and worked with the parish summer arts program.
Through funds raised this year, SAOPCS has been able to resurface the mural wall in our art room. The improvement to this wall will provide our students enhanced opportunities for creating and displaying art.
