COORDINATOR:   Jacqui Dimpel  (281) 362-8809  (home #);  (281) 389-7517 (Cell #)

 WHAT DO CANTORS DO?

Cantors serve a major role in liturgical celebrations by leading the congregation in song.  Successful cantors have a pleasant voice and project well, read music, adjust to unforeseen circumstances without being nervous, and are able to provide musical leadership in front of large assemblies.

 WHEN DO CANTORS SING?

Cantors sing at liturgical celebrations including regularly scheduled and special Masses, Healing and Anointing Services, Stations of the Cross, Baptisms, Funerals, and Weddings.

HOW DO I BECOME A CANTOR?

Interested singers who would like to volunteer in the cantor ministry are invited to audition by contacting the Cantor Coordinator.

WHAT PREPARATION HELP AND TRAINING IS PROVIDED?

Cantors can prepare for services (as needed) with the Cantor Coordinator on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Music Room.

The Cantor Coordinator and an assigned “Cantor Buddy” provide altar logistic training for new cantors.

Music and a recorded CD are provided to assist the Cantor in preparing for the regularly scheduled Masses.

Workshops and private voice lessons are also provided for continuing development throughout the year.
