Annual
Giving Campaign 2008-2009
SAOPCS's goal is to continue a
strong, competitive,
Christ-centered Catholic educational
program. To do this, we must keep
this level of excellence affordable.
The most significant contribution
any of us can make to SAOPCS is to
the Annual Fund. A healthy Annual
Fund provides for the needs of our
students in basic, yet essential,
ways: state-of-the-art facilities
designed to enhance learning,
electronic teaching aids and other
educational tools, and perhaps most importantly, highly qualified and
skilled classroom instructors.

Catholic School Plan
"We are actively
discerning a vibrant vision for
Catholic schools in the Archdiocese
of Galveston-Houston. Our desired
roadmap will ensure that Catholic
elementary and secondary schools in
our archdiocese are available,
accessible and affordable
to parents who
desire a Catholic education for
their children." - Daniel Cardinal
DiNardo
North Houston Catholic High School
- A committee to form a North
Catholic High School has been hard
at work. They have recently received
the approval from Cardinal DiNardo
to purchase the land to begin
building the school. The committee
is hosting a free dinner on November
12 from 7-9pm at St. Edward Catholic
School to discuss next steps and
look for pledges and commitment from
the local Catholic community.

Now You Can Make a Charitable Donation to Your
Parish or to the Archdiocese of
Galveston-Houston from Your IRA!!!
Congress has approved and the President signed
legislation that includes the immediate and
retroactive extension of the popular Pension
Protection Act of 2006. The Pension Protection
Act allows taxpayers over 70½ to make tax-free
distributions from their traditional and Roth
IRAs (Individual Retirement Accounts) directly
to charity in 2008 and 2009.
Under the law, you can make a lifetime gift
using funds from your individual retirement
account (IRA) without undesirable tax effects.
The legislation allows a maximum $100,000 gift
in both the 2008 and 2009 tax years.
